4 Tools to find low traffic posts of your blog




Right treatment of low quality and low traffic post is the very important measure for Google Panda Recovery . You can either update those post or in case if the post content is outdated its better to remove it . To do all this first you have to find out the low or no traffic post . Below are four tools which you can use to find low traffic posts 

1. Google Analytics 

Google analytic not just provides , your blogs insight details you can also find low traffic posts of your blog from it . From the left side tabs , select the content tab from there go to Site content ->Pages  . This will generate the list of your blogs popular posts  in decreasing order with the percentage of their traffic share . You can check this list in reverse order to find the posts having no or least traffic .

2. Google Webmaster 

Google Webmaster is a very popular  SEO tool . Log in to your  Webmaster account , select your blog and from the left side tabs select ‘Your Site on the Web ‘  select ‘ Search Queries ‘ . From the top select ‘Top Pages ‘ , this will list your popular posts with their position in the search results . From here you can find the post having poor traffic and poor position in the search results . This report doesn’t counts the referral traffic , its based on organic search engine traffic from Google only  .

3. Statcounter 

You can also find low traffic posts from statcounter as well . Click on ‘Popular Pages ‘ this will list the posts in decreasing order of their traffic . You can directly access stat counter from your WordPress blog dashboard if you have installed statcounter plugin . The free account only provides limited details .

4. WordPress Plugin SEO search term tagging 2 

This WordPress plugin offers two features : i) Show incoming search key term below post which helps in increasing keyword density and ii) Find blog post not getting any search engine traffic. After the latest Panda update using the 1st feature is not recommended , but you can definitely use its second feature . It list all the posts which are not getting any traffic from the search engines , you can either edit and promote those posts or you can also remove those posts .

How to treat low traffic posts

After you have found out the post that are having low or no traffic, its time to start their treatment. Try to find out why those post are not getting organic traffic. If the content of the post is outdated and not relevant now, then its better that you remove it. After you have removed the post, make sure you remove it from the Google’s index using Google Webmaster URL remove option.

If the content is still relevant, then try to improve it further by adding more information in the post. Your post should have at-least 300 words. After you have improved the post, try promoting it on social bookmarking sites and social media networks like facebook and twitter.

A good blogger should follow the Google guidelines for successful blogging . The recent Panda and Penguin update has affect lots of bloggers . One of the important recommendation from Matt Cutts for better ranking of your blog is the removal or updation of low quality and low traffic posts I hope the above tool will be useful to you for finding the no traffic posts .

  1. Those you have listed are really great tools and I am also using all of them to be perfectly honest especially the “WordPress Plugin SEO search term tagging 2″. It helps me to check which of my posts are not getting any traffic so that I can either update it or remove it.

    Does a post that carries no traffic is really harmful for the site even if its having nice contents?
    If yes, which is better solution – to remove it or to update it?

      better solution is to update that post, if you feel that it can rank after the update. If there are no possibility of ranking it , then its better to delete it
